N S Vasant ex-chairman PSEB is no more

New Delhi
One of the greatest power engineers of India N S Vasant Ex- Chairman of Punjab State Electricity Board passed away today evening at New Delhi. His cremation will take place on Wednesday .
He steered the power sector of Punjab during those difficult years and created many national records in
conceptualization and execution of thermal power projects. The power sector achieved great heights under his stewardship.
He was instrumental in the power sector development of Punjab. During his tenure Ropar thermal plant. Ranjit Sagar Dam Hydro project, Mukerian Hydel project and Anandpur sahib Hydel project were planned and executed .
He remained Chairman PSEN for more than 11 years from 1980 to 1991. He had excellent relations with both congress and Akali Government and state bureaucracy. He started his career with Central Electricity Authority and then became General Manager in Delhi Electric Supply Company before moving to Punjab. Initially he remained part time member of PSEB before joining as Chairman.
He was advisor to Punjab Government & Haryana government. He remained Chairman of working group on power.
He was recently given life time achievement award by Ministry of power Government of India. He could not attend the function personally on November 30 this year as he was already in coma.
