‘HARYANA TO HAVE an 11 KV FEEDER IN EACH CIRCLE’
Hisar: Haryana power distribution companies or discoms will adopt at least one 11 KV feeder in each operation circle for implementing Punjab model of power supply as a pilot project in the state. Chairman and Managing Director, Discoms, Devender Singh, while having the post presentation discussions with the engineers of Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) and senior engineers of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) on Tuesday, said that a core committee of the advisor and directors of discoms would be constituted to study the system in detail.

“The committee will submit the report to the management, which will be placed before the Board of Directors of the discoms for their consideration,” said Singh, adding the discoms had already launched their system strengthening programme in the state. “The villages interested in having power supply on urban mode would be benefited with this model,”he said, and directed the officers to identify such villages for further implementation of the project as the pay back period was only 18 months.

Singh said the new system would help minimise interruptions in power supply, improve voltage, eliminate the problem of overloading of the system, and minimise supply related complaints of consumers and possibility of accidents. Bhupinder Singh, Secretary General, Northern India Power Engineers Federation, made the presentation and highlighted the gains from this low cost model. He said the investment made on improving the system can be recovered within a period of one and a half years of the implementation of the new project, which also reduces the damage rate of distribution transformers.DP
