Haryana Power Distribution Corporations (Discoms) would adopt at least one 11 kV feeder in each operation circle for implementing Punjab Model of power supply as a pilot project in the State.
Devender Singh Chairman and Managing Director, Discoms, said that a core committee of the advisor and directors of both Discoms would be constituted to study the system in detail. The report of committee will be placed before the Board of Directors for their consideration.
Northern India Power Engineers Federation (NIPEF) today made their third presentation of Punjab Model before the senior engineers of the Discoms. The Power engineers were apprised of the gains from the successful implementation of low cost model.
The financial implication of project are very low .It is Rs. 3500/ per consumer in rural area and Rs.900-1000/ per consumer in urban areas. The best thing about this model is that investment made on improving the system can be recovered with in a period of one and a half year of implementation.
Devender Singh further said that the Discoms had already launched their system strengthening program in the State and this model will be implemented simultaneously at least on one feeder of each circle.
The villages interested in having power supply on urban mode would be benefited with this model. He directed the officers to identify those villages in their circles where the pilot projects can launch successfully. The improved system would help minimize interruptions in power supply, improve voltage, eliminate the problem of overloading of the system, and minimize supply related complaints of consumers and possibility of accidents.
