RTP engineers hold meeting to protest downgrading of their ACR’s

Ropar: Engineers of Ropar Thermal Plant today held a gate rally for one hour in front of the main gate of the plant, which was attended by more than 70 engineers of all ranks from Assistant Engineers to Deputy Chief Engineers.

The engineers lamented that they have been forced to adopt this agitational path, which they have been scrupulously avoiding. They had been apprising PSEB authorities on the derogatory working of K K Sood, last GM of plant.

S C Chabba Sr. Vice President of the association said the engineers had been highlighting habit of shirking responsibility, delaying of sanctions relating to personal matters and running the administration from his office only without visiting the site to sort out problems.

It may be added that in March 2009 a memorandum signed by more than 150 engineers was given to board management highlighting the threat they received from GM regarding spoiling of their ACR’s

The board management did not act at that time and General Manager was allowed to spoil the ACR’s of competent engineers which he submitted two days before his retirement.

The gate meeting resolved to continue these rallies for week and go for two hour walk out of the plant in next week if the demands are not met.

The engineers asked the board management to take sue motto notice of quashing of ACRs written by last GM of plant for the year 2008-09 as the whole exercise is patently illegal and tainted with bias.
