Ropar Thermal Plant sets a new generation record

ROPAR: Ropar thermal Plant has set a new record for supplying maximum power to the people of Punjab when it is needed the most in view of weak monsoon.
According to N K Saggar Chief Engineer of thermal plant during the month of July, the plant generated 902. 8 Million Units with plant load factor of 96.23%. On 1st August and 2nd August the plant has has been running at more than 100 percent plant load factor.
The Coal Handling Plant has also seen a turnaround in its working as nine rakes have been unloaded on a single day on July 19 this year and again on July 30 attracting appreciation from Railway Authorities. This is despite the fact that wet coal in rainy season reduces efficiency of unloading due to choking of chutes etc.
The coal stock at the plant is around 91000 MT sufficient for four and half days. This is due to short supply of coal by Central coalfield Ltd said an official S C Chabba Dy. Chief Engineer Civil said that on environmental front this plant has proposed to plant 5000 trees in this growing season. This will add to the existing green belts around the plant, which have more than 100000
trees.
The dry fly ash handling system of the plant has conveyed highest ever quantity of fly ash to M/S GACL and ACC during the month of July with 1.61 lac tonnes of ash against previous best of 1.59 lac tonnes in August 2006.
