Ludhiana The enforcement wing of the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) during its last week’s checking found that the meter of a factory was running 66 per cent slow. Rakesh Kumar, who was paying only one-third of the bill for his powerloom factory in the Industrial Area 1, has been slapped a fine of Rs 42 lakh. The meter was installed in 2003, so the penalty has been calculated accordingly. Acting on the complaint, the PSEB had sent the meter to laboratory for testing and found the anomaly.
The PSEB team said it was not a case of power theft as current transformers (CT) fitted below the meter was making the meter run slow.

Deputy Chief Engineer H S Randhawa said the consumer has been given seven days to deposit the bill.
