PSEB extends RFQ date for Gidderwaha and Rajpura thermal projects

Patiala: The Punjab State Electricity Board has extended sixth time the date for submission of request for qualification (RFQ) document for setting up the 2,400 + 10 % MW coal-based Gidderbaha thermal power project.

According to sources the deadline has been extended sixth time to November 16 due to non-allocation of coal linkages for the thermal project. The tender opening was due on December 19 last year but date is being extended every two months on the pretext on to get good competition of non-allocation of coal linkage.

Reliance Power, Larsen & Toubro, Adani Infrastructure, GMR Energy were four companies who had submitted RFQ document for setting up Gidderbaha Thermal Power Project on Build, Own & Operate (BOO) basis. A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) has been set up to execute the project.

For 1200 + 10% MW Rajpura thermal project PSEB has also extended the date of submission of RFQ and RFP documents to October 10 Last week pre bid meeting was held with various bidders at Patiala. 15 firms have shown interest in the 1,320 MW Rajpura thermal plant project. These included Adani Power, Lanco Infratech, Reliance Energy, Welspun Urja India, DS Construction, NTPC, Dalmia Cement, Essar Power, Larsen and Toubro, Gammon India, JSW Energy, OPG Power, India Bulls, AMTech Group and, e-Gateway India
Earlier only one firm Lanco had participated in the tender process but the offer was rejected by Appallewtte Tribunal of Electricity being the lone negotiated bid.

Both these projects are likely to be completed in next four to five years. Normally it takes 42 months after the financial closure by the company. The financial closure is generally after one year from date of allotment of project
