CHANDIGARH: Vilasrao Deshmukh, Union Minister for Heavy Industries has assured Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Member of Parliament from Bathinda, an early action by Bharat Heavy Electrical Ltd. (BHEL) in commencing work on special 'fly ash' project of Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Plant, Bathinda.

Badal had brought to the notice of Union Minister uncaring attitude of BHEL in handling the 'fly ash' project of Thermal Plant Bathinda that apart from running into inordinate delays was also causing great inconvenience to the people of Bathinda and endangering their lives.

In a letter written to Union Minister,Badal pointed out that every day she had to brave scenes of public outrages because of inordinate delay in starting fly ash project in Thermal Plant Bathinda. She said that though Punjab State Electricity Board had awarded this project to BHEL in 2006 but till date BHEL had not started this work despite various assurances.

She pointed out that work on fly ash project may not take off early as BHEL has not even finalized their contracts for civil works of the project. She has requested the Minister to instruct BHEL to expedite work on fly ash project and complete work on it within stipulated time as delay was causing problem to the people.

Deshmukh in response to communiqué of Member Parliament Harsimrat Kaur Badal assured expeditious action by BHEL on fly ash project.
