Power staff sweat it out as angry villagers cut power supply to PSEB office

Lakha (Jagraon):
For the officials of Punjab State Electricity Board manning the office at this village, it was a harrowing day after the villagers gheroed and locked the office for the entire day forcing the officials to sit inside the office. To make the matters worse, the villagers cut the power supply of the office thereby making the officials sweat it out the entire day.

The gherao-cum-dharna that began at about 10 in the morning ended late last evening and that too after the area SDO assured the villagers that he would see to it that power supply to this village was improved.

Buta Singh Chakkar, a local Congress leader, who led this gherao, said, “This village has not been getting power for almost 10 days now. The situation has worsened in the last five days. At first, we used to get power for about four to five hours a day but now there is now power at all. What is worse that when the villagers come to lodge their complaint at this office, the officials speak to them very rudely. Hence, we had no other option but give the officials a taste of their own medicine.”
