Transformer damaged, power supply hit

An overloaded trolley on Tuesday damaged a transformer and connecting cables of PSEB installed in Model Town area. The incident, which happened opposite Deep Hospital. It caused a loss of Rs 2 lakh to PSEB which has got a police case registered against the trolley owner.

The trolley was carrying a Rath, which is used in the marriages by the groom. However due to height of the rath, it got entangled in the electricity cables first and later the out-of-control trolley hit the transformer which fell on the ground.

Due to this incident, the electricity supply of this area remained suspended for more than six hours and late in the evening the load was shifted to some other transformer. Amrik Singh, SDO of the area, said, “The new transformer will be installed tomorrow morning.”
