AIPEF demands removal of chairman DVC

PATIALA: All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) in a letter to Prime Minister of India has demanded the removal of chairman Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) and entrusting the vigilance cases referred by Central Vigilance Commission against him to CBI.

Padamjit Singh Chairman AIPEF has drawn the attention of Prime Minister to his statement on occasion of vigilance awareness week earlier this month that a truth that will prevail for all times to come, is that "corruption is the very anti-thesis of good governance".
The Ministry of Power is not practicing the principles of good governance when it ordered the posting of S Biswas as new DVC Chairman without mandatory vigilance clearance.

AIPEF has demanded that directions may be issued that the all the vigilance and disciplinary cases pending against present DVC Chairman as referred in CVC letter of October 20 must be entrusted to CBI.

It may be mentioned that the Central Vigilance Commission has questioned the appointment of S. Biswas as Chairman of Damodar Valley Corporation by Ministry of Power without vigilance clearance. K S Ramasuban Secretary CVC wrote to Union Power Secretary H S Brahma on October 20 that It is not understood that how the power ministry processed the appointment of S Biswas as DVC chairman without the vigilance clearance from the commission. as CVC has already advised disciplinary action against present DVC Chairman.

The letter further states that in an earlier case of embezzlement of 1 crore of DVC funds, the management went all out to cover up the case, both departmentally and by stoutly defending the case before Assam Govt.

Even after the scam was exposed & the amount of Rs. 1 crore was refunded, DVC did not file a criminal FIR against the scamsters, & preferred to file a civil suit for recovery of interest only. The chief executive of DVC during that period is new Chairman of DVC.
