Karnal: Haryana Power Engineers Association has alleged that the power utilities are fixing unrealistic targets to hide their poor performance.

RS Dahiya President of association said after its executive council meeting that in UHBVN losses up to March 2009 is near Rs 2700 crores, loan taken is about Rs 7000 crores, out standing defaulting amount of Rs 1700 crores with a cash deficit of Rs 250 crores per month. These parameters are worst in the state and even after spending Rs 5500 crores after joining of present MD in July 2008, the AT&C losses have increased.

The power utilities administration is setting unrealistic targets, which are not achievable and then disciplinary cases are made out on flimsy grounds against the Engineers to demoralize them. This is being done to divert the attention of engineers from the poor performance of utilities.

MD Uttar Haryana Bidhyut Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) is acting on advice of the consulantants, who are not aware of the ground realities and the field officers have become helpless & feel ignored resulting into poor performance of the utility as reflected in the parameters.

RS Dahiya General Secretary of Association said that in the review meetings held by MD UHBVN, dictatorial and threatening language was used by him, which is agitating the minds of the Power Engineers.

Haryana Power Engineers Association strongly condemn the behavior of MD UHBVN and hopes that in future he will have co-cordial and healthy relations with Power Engineers so that better service to power consumers is ensured through conducive working environment.

Association discussed the matter regarding restructuring in UHBVN and DHBVN, filling of vacant posts, promotional issues, removal of anomalies in pay scales, revocation of suspension of Power Engineers in UHBVN, appointment of Directors in Utilities, settlement of disciplinary cases of Engineers, strengthening of Sub-divisions in Discoms etc were discussed with Chairman Power Utilities. Association urges the Chairman to get settled all the issues at the earliest.
