LUDHIANA: After setting the entire power system in the state in order by Sunday morning, the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) has claimed that Punjab had no role to play in the failure of the Northern Grid on Saturday.
“The entire system was working fine and the 220 KV transmission lines in Punjab were not facing any major disruptions. The problem occurred in 400 KV lines outside the state. The Power Grid Corporation will have to see the reasons behind the trippings,” V K Gupta, Member (System Operations), PSEB, said.
He was reacting sharply to the statement of S K Chaturvedi, CMD, Power Grid, who has been quoted as saying that the government of Punjab does not have provision to clean up the transmission lines in advance and therefore there were disruptions in 220 KV transmission lines over Punjab due to fog. Gupta went on to claim that the PSEB has never been at fault in any of the earlier failures of the grid too.
