PANIPAT: Another grid collapse was averted following tripping of 400KV and 220 KV transmission lines emanating from Panipat and resultant tripping of thermal units at Panipat due to dense fog.

The outage of 400KV and 220 KV transmission lines from Panipat led to effective outage of 400 kV Dadri-Panipat double circuit line thus leading to heavy
loading on 400 kV Bawana-Hissar, 400 kV Bawana-Bahadurgarh and 400 kV Dadri-Malerkotla.

The grid collapse was saved by resorting to load shedding in Punjab, Haryana, HP, J & K as well as hydro re-scheduling.

The outage of transmission lines at Panipat due to dense fog tripped thermal unit’s no. 1, 2 and 4 of Panipat Thermal Plant at 22-50 hours. There was complete blackout in stage 1 units of Panipat Thermal Plant. The railway supply was also disrupted for a short duration of 15 to 20 minutes due to tripping of thermal units at Panipat.

400 KV Dehar Panipat line tripped at 22-17 hours on Thursday. All the 220 KV transmission lines from Panipat tripped including Panipat Narela, Panipat Kurukshetra, and Panipat Dhulkot And Panipat Charkhi Dadri. A total of 13 Nos. 220 KV transmission lines tripped.

400 KV Agra Muradnager line and400 KV Bassi Heerapur lines also tripped on Friday morning due to grid disturbances and were restored later According to sources most the transmission lines were restored by Friday morning. The other lines were restores subsequently. The system in northern grid remained on high alert following tripping if transmission lines through out the night.
