Virender Singh named new Member of Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission

Chandigarh: Punjab Government today appointed Virender Singh a retired PSEB Engineer-in –chief as new Member of Punjab State Electricity Regulatory commission.

Virender Singh has been appointed Member PSERC on the expiry of term of Mrs. Baljit Bains whose term expired on January 6 this year.

Virender Singh retired from PSEB as Engineer-in-chief on December 31 2008.He was heading HRD department at the time of his retirement.

Virender Singh an expert on power matters who retired from PSEB as Engineer-in chief told this correspondent in an exclusive interview on February 1 2009 that “It is possible to revive fund starved Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) through technical and managerial reforms.

A graduate of Thapar Engineering College Patiala, he joined PSEB in 1971. He rendered service in Generation, Transmission & Distribution systems of PSEB with credit to initiate managerial and technical reforms throughout career.

After retirement he continued his association with Power Sector Reforms processes as Training & Consultancy Partner to Institute for Professional Excellence and Consultancy Pvt. Limited Mumbai.
