Power bills: Farmers burn govt effigy

Farmers aligned with the Kisan Sangarsh Committee burnt an effigy of the Punjab Government and blocked traffic on G.T. Road at Post Office Chowk to protest implementation of SukhbirKalia report.
KSC state president Satnam Singh Pannu asked the government to withdraw the panel report which had recommended power bills for tubewells and canal water rent. He also demanded that privatisation of Punjab State Electricity Board be shelved and the Electricity Bill-2003 terminated. He warned of dharnas at Board offices in the district on February 10 and rail-road blockades on February 15.
