CHANDIGARH: The power position in Haryana may worsen with Yamuna Nagar Thermal plant reporting nil stock of coal. According to CEA report the coal stock at 600 MW Yamuna Nagar thermal plant is NIL and coal stock at 1360 MW Panipat Thermal Plant is 55000 MT which is sufficient for two days. The coal stock at both plants comes under super critical position.

The daily coal requirement at Yamunanagar thermal plant is around 10000 MT where as it is 23200 MT for Panipat thermal plant.

The main reason for coal shortage at Yamuna Nagar thermal plants is less receipt from coal companies’ .whereas the reason for less stock is more generation .According to Central Electricity Authority sources Central Coalfield limited is supplying less coal to thermal plants in Haryana.

As per Central Electricity Authority parameters if coal stock is less than 7 days it comes under critical poison and if coal stock is less than 4 days it becomes super critical. Every thermal plant is supposed to keep a coal stock of 25 days.

The power demand in the state has gone down to 773 lakh units from yesterdays demand of 897 lakh units The power shortage has come down from 115 lakh units to 46 lakh units.
