The working of the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB)in all over the state was severely affected after the employees went on a day-long strike to protest against the government's move of unbundling it on 11-02-2010
An official spokesman of the Punjab Government said that the Government of India (GoI) has allowed two months more time for unbundling of the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) i.e. up to 15th April 2010. It may be recall here that earlier GoI had granted extension up to 15th February 2010 to the state government for this purpose. According to sources the state government has finally made up its mind to unbundle the PSEB and plan to register new power companies in coming months.

According to sources the PSEB may be split in two companies. Generation and Distribution may come under one company and transmission may go to second company. Various associations and unions who are opposed to unbundling of PSEB are seeking conversion of PSEB into one single company on Kerala pattern.

Earlier, the working of the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB)in all over the state was severely affected after the employees went on a day-long strike to protest against the government's move of unbundling it on 11-02-2010. The complaint centres and cash centres of the board all over the state remained shut, and the consumers could neither submit their bills nor register their complaints. the PSEB Employees Union and Joint Action Committee leaders claimed that over 80 per cent of the PSEB staff participated in the strike.
