Rs 1,000-cr power bills recovered

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Power Secretary Madhusudan Prasad on Wednesday said that the Power Utilities have recovered more than Rs 1,000 crore on account of current and outstanding electricity bills from consumers during the last two months. He said that meters have been installed on feeders by Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and the work of installing meters in Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam would be complete by April- end. Irrigation Secretary K.K. Jalan said the water level in Bhakra Dam had gone down by 40 feet and in Pong Dam, by 44 feet as compared to last year. Jalan urged the DCs to maintain close liai- son and ensure water avail- ability in ponds.
While referring the canal water pilferage in the state, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda directed the Secretary Irrigation to ensure proper management for distribu- tion of water at the tail-end.
