Haryana: The power position in Haryana has worsened with the closure of 300 MW unit no.2 of Yamunanagar Thermal plant for a fortnight.

The unit was closed on February 22 following excessive collection of ash in the Electro Static Precipitators of the unit. According to sources the initially unit was closed for three days but now the unit has been closed for a fortnight.

According to official sources unit had been taken under shut down to take up annual maintenance works relating to boiler and its auxiliary for the next 15 days or so. During the same period, the excessivecollection of ash in the ESP Hoppers and some of the hoppers and ducts that have got damaged would be rectified

Yamuna Nagar comprising of 2 Units of 300 MW each and it has been claimed that the plant has been stabilized after 2 years of its commissioning. The plant has attained annual Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 83.37 per cent.

According to CEA website the coal stock is nil for the last ten days and units were running from hand to mouth coal stock. Unit no. 1 running at about 275 MW of load. The coal stock at 1360 MW Panipat Thermal Plant is 89000 MT which is sufficient for four days. The coal stock at Yamunanagar comes under super critical category.

The daily coal requirement at Yamunanagar thermal plant is around 10000 MT where as it is 23200 MT for Panipat thermal plant.

The power demand in the state is 901 lakh units and there is shortage of 101 lakh units. The power availability from states own a source is 455 lakh units while it is over drawing power from 122 lakh units.

The unit no. 3 Panipat is under shutdown from December 29 due to turbine alignment problems.
