Director HPGCL blamed for closure of Yamunanagar and Panipat thermal units

Panipat: Haryana Power Engineers Association has blamed the Director Technical HPGCL for the closure of at least one thermal unit each at Yamunanagar and Panipat which has resulted in the power crisis in the state.
R S Dahiya President of Association said that Haryana is loosing 528 MW daily due to inefficient decisions of Director Technical that has led to power crisis in state. The thermal engineers claimed that it will take three months to put the units on bar.
Dahiya said that 110 MW unit No. 3 of Panipat Thermal Plant was closed on December 29 last year due to inflow of lubricating oil in turbine shaft thus over heating of Turbine. This unit is lying closed for more than two months and the official reason given is turbine alignment problem. It may take yet another month to revive the unit.
Sumer Singh Yadav General Secretary of Association said that 300 MW unit 2 of
Yamuna Nagar Thermal Plant February 22 due to excessive collection of ash in Electro State Precipitation/hoppers. The shut down of unit by the Director Technical was not allowed immediately to solve the problem . This has led to damage to ESP hoppers of the unit and may take three months time to put back the unit on bar.
According to Association the power position has worsened due to wrong decision taken by Director Technical HPGCL and this person is seeking third extension for himself.
The management has recommended his name for extension despite his poor performance
The Association has demanded that a new Director may be posted in his place after expiry of his second extension
It may be mentioned that another 110 MW unit no. 1 of Panipat Thermal Plant is also under shut down for the last four days. .
According to CEA report Haryana is overdrawing 204 lakh units from the northern grid in addition to drawing schedule share of 227 lakh units. The power availability after over drawing is 829 lakh units against demand of 886 lakh units. The power over drawl from grid was at about Rs. 4.50 per unit.
As per HPGCL website the 210 MW units no. 6 of Panipat thermal plant was also not available today. Unit no.1 of Yamunanagar thermal plant was running at 281 MW.
