CHANDIGARH: With the closure of four thermal units , the power crisis in Haryana has worsened and Haryana Power Engineers Association has blamed the Director Technical HPGCL for this.

The power shortage in Haryana has increased to 125 lakh units with the closure of 300 MW unit no. 2 of Yamunanagar thermal plant, 210 MW unit no. 6 of Panipat thermal plant and 110 MW unit no. 1 and 3 of Panipat thermal plant.

R S Dahiya President of Association said that Haryana is loosing 730 MW daily due to inefficient decisions of Director Technical that has led to power crisis in state. Dahiya said that 110 MW unit No. 3 of Panipat Thermal Plant was closed on December 29 last year due to inflow of lubricating oil in turbine shaft thus leading to over heating of Turbine. This unit is lying closed for more than two months and the official reason given is turbine alignment problem. It may take yet another month to revive the unit.

Sumer Singh Yadav General Secretary of Association said that 300 MW unit 2 of Yamuna Nagar Thermal Plant February 22 due to excessive collection of ash in Electro State Precipitation/hoppers. The immediate shut down of unit was refused by the Director Technical to solve the problem. The delay in closing the unit on time has led to damage to ESP hoppers of the unit and it may take total three months time to put back the unit on bar.

Association has alleged that the power position has worsened due to wrong decision taken by Director Technical HPGCL and this person is seeking third extension for himself. The management has recommended his name for extension despite his mishandling of affairs of HPGCL

210 Mw unit no. 6 of Panipat thermal plant has been closed due to condenser leakage. 110 MW Unit no 1 is already down for the last five days after a bus fault.

NRLDC website points out that Haryana is drawing 389 lakh units from the northern grid against schedule drawl of 230 lakh units. The power availability after over drawing from grid is 725 lakh units against demand of 880 lakh units.
