Guru Gobind Singh plant generates 10,056 m units

Chandigarh: The 25-year-old Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Plant, Roopnagar, has achieved all-time-high power generation of 10,056.35 million units for 2009-10 with the plant load factor of 91.11%, since its inception.

Disclosing this, chairman of the board, H S Brar said the previous record was for 9,806.16million units in 2007-08.

Performance parameters like maximum availability factor, efficiency and minimum forced outages, number of trippings, auxiliary consumption have also improved.

100 % of ash (dry and wet) generated, is being utilised, leading to huge savings for the Board.

“For the betterment of the environment, sedimentation tank and sewerage treatment plants are being set up, for which the work is under progress. Tree plantation of more than 5,000 saplings has been done in the 2009-10 and at present, total plants in the GGSSTP premises are more than 145,000 trees”, Brar added.
