Chandigarh: It is the IAS and Finance people and not the Engineers who are likely to be major beneficiaries of unbundling of PSEB in two companies.
According to sources there will be three directors from finance and accounts side in the restructured companies against the one post of Member Finance in present setup. The two posts of Director HRD besides two posts of CEO are likely to be grabbed by IAS officers.
CEO of the Generation and Distribution Company (GND) is likely to be an IAS officer. The other directors of the company will be Director Operation (Distribution), Director Material Procurement, Director Thermalgeneration, Director Hydel generation Director HRD, Director Finance (Distribution) and Director Finance (Generation).First four directors are likely to be engineers and last two from finance and accounts side
The Transmission Company Transco to be headed by CEO will have Director Operation (transmission) Director HRD and Director Finance and Accounts. There was no clarity on the commercial side that weather it is to be headed by Director or Chief Engineer.
According to report of consultants the maximum qualifying age for the post of Director is 58 years and for CEO/Executive Director it is 60 years. There is much pressure on the Government to waive this condition.
In the present PSEB setup HS Brar Chairman, GS Sra Member Generation and S C Sabharwal member Transmission have already crossed the age of 60 years. KD Chudhary Member Distribution has also crossed the age of 58 years.
According to seniority in PSEB GS Chhabra, HS Nagpal Shashi Dixit, Arun Gupta and Arun Verma are the senior most engineers in board.
