Punjab Govt under pressure by PSEB top brass to retain them in new set up

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Government is expected to serve old wine in new bottle and is likely to retain the present PSEB management intact in the new companies to be formed after its unbundling.
According to sources Punjab Government has buckled down to the pressure of present PSEB management and expected to amendthe service conditions for the posts of Managing Directors and Directors of unbundled companies.
According to report of consultants the maximum qualifying age for the post of Director is 58 years and for CEO/Executive Director it is 60 years. There was much pressure on the Government to waive this condition
The memorandum submitted by the Chief Secretary regarding maximum qualifying age was in line with consultant report.
According to sources the age relaxation and other service conditions may cp,e up before Punjab cabinet on April 15 to adjust the present incumbents . It may be mentioned that no where in country has the upper age limit beyond 60 years for any services.
The post of Director HRD in Powercom is likely to be retained by present Administrative member although consultants had recommended MBA as minimum qualification for the post.
Managing Director of Generation and Distribution Company (Powercom) is likely to be an IAS officer. The other directors of the company would be Director Operation (Distribution), Director Material Procurement, Director Thermal generation, Director Hydel generation Director HRD, Director Finance (Distribution) and Director Finance (Generation).
The Transmission Company Transco to be headed by CEO would be Director Operation (Transmission) Director HRD and Director Finance and Accounts.
