Farmers protest PSEB unbundling - Stage rallies across state

Thousands of farmers took out rallies and held dharnas in var- ious towns of the state, includ- ing Amritsar, Jalandhar, Gurdaspur, Sangrur and Bathinda, against the unbundling of the Punjab State Electricity Board and power tariff hike.
The protesters belonging to the Jamhoori Kisan Sabha, Kisan Sangharsh Committee, Border Area Farmers Union and Pendu Mazdoor Union among other organisations also demanded action against those behind the murders of farmer leader Sadhu Singh Takhtupura in Tarn Taran and the two farm- ers of Khanna Chamaran vil- lage at Dera Baba Nanak. They said a judicial commission should probe the murders.
