APTransco to streamline power supply with PFC fund

With reduction of losses in the transmission networks, AP Transco and power distribution companies (Discoms) have initiated works aimed at further streamlining the functioning of the power supply grid with funding from Power Finance Corporation (PFC).
The services of TCS have been enlisted to help in the process.
PFC has sanctioned Rs 388 crore and released Rs 116 crore as advance under the first phase of the Restructured Accelerated Power Development Reforms Programme (R-APDRP).
The IT consultancy major, TCS, has been selected as the IT implementation agency for the R-APDRP project.
A Letter of Allotment with a total project value of Rs 231.59 crore, excluding cost of ring fencing and bandwidth charges, has been approved by four Discoms in the State.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office, Dr K. Rosaiah, directed, on Thursday, the AP Transco to reduce transmission losses using the funds under the R-APDRP.
While complimenting the AP Transco for its sustained efforts to bring down transmission and distribution losses, Dr Rosaiah discussed the implementation of the R-APDRP and village electrification works under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY).
The outlay for RGGVY has been fixed at Rs 830 crore for the State.
Under this, four Discoms and four rural electrification corporations are expected to cover 14,309 un-electrified habitations. The cost of the electrification project includes Rs 420.02 crore for infrastructure development and Rs 408.37 crore for electrification of 25,48,149 below the poverty line (BPL) rural households.
