Resentment prevails among power engineers over alleged failure of the Punjab government and Powercom to honour commitments made by Chief Minister at the time of unbundling of the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB).

In a statement issued after a meeting of the PSEB Engineers Association, Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Plant, Rupnagar region, held on Thursday, regional secretary Parmod Sharma said before restructuring the PSEB, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had assured engineers and other employees that their services and pension benefits would be protected in the new set-up.

They were told that a tripartite agreement between the state government, management of companies and the association would be immediately signed after the Cabinet decided to unbundled the Board, as had been done in other states.
However, even after nearly three months, the process had not begun, he added.
