Punjab Power engineers to go on agitation from October 13
Power engineers have served a notice to Punjab Powercom management stating that they will launching a state wide agitation from October 13 to protest the delaying tactics of Powercom management and state government to honour its commitments.

POWER ENGINEERS have served a notice to Punjab Powercom management stating that they will launching a state wide agitation from October 13 to protest the delaying tactics of Powercom management and state government to honour its commitments.

HS Bedi, President of PSEB Engineers' Association, said that engineers will observe protest day on October 13 to start the agitation. This will be followed by mass dharnas at Zonal level from October 15 and work to rule from November 8.

Bedi further asserted that PSEB engineers were assured by Chief Minister, Punjab during meeting with the Association on April 5 that a tripartite agreement shall be signed to protect the service / working conditions as well to maintain existing differential of pay scales of PSEB Engineers vis-à-vis their counterpart Punjab government engineers.

It was also assured that way and means will be devised to guarantee payment of all pensionary and other retirement benefits to employees.

The matter was brought to the notice of Chief Minister On August 8 and it was decided that a 5 member committee headed by Chief Secretary would resolve all the issues of engineers by September 15 but committee never invited Association for any discussion on these issues.

It was further assured that Gidderbaha thermal project will be executed under state sector provided there is no financial liability on the state government. Now the state Government has handed over the project to NTPC. The state share in the project has been reduced to 52 %.
