PATIALA: Punjab State Electricity Board has started the process of recruitment of 125 posts of assistant engineers and 225 posts of junior engineers to reduce the shortage of technical staff in board.

PSEB Engineers Association had pleaded before the Chief Minister Punjab that working of board is suffering due to shortage of technical staff. Parkash Singh Badal Chief Minister of Punjab had announced in the AGM of PSEB engineers association on September30 that 225 new assistant engineers, 225 new Junior engineers and 125 SSAs shall be recruited 'purely on merit' in PSEB to reduce the shortage of technical manpower in the organization.

PSEB has engaged a private consultant to complete the selection process.The selection would be based on the marks obtained in the written test and there would not be any other interview. A senior PSEB engineer said that even after the recruitment of 125 engineers there would still be a shortage of more than 100 engineers.
