Panipat, March 30
The state power engineers have reiterated their demand to restructure discoms, which has not been done for the past one decade. President of the Haryana Power Engineers Association RS Dahiya said reluctance in restructuring of discoms defied logic.
He stated that this had resulted in unsatisfactory service to the consumers and overloading of subdivisions. He added that there had been some restructuring in the generation and transmission wings, but the discoms had been left untouched, which were the main revenue-earning utilities.
He said the workload was increasing and creation of new posts was a must for better services to consumers.
The president said the discoms were supposed to restructure themselves by March 31, 2006. However, even after four years, the process had not been completed. This had led to the reduction of the working staff up to 48 per cent in the discoms.
