THE PERFORMANCE of Yamuna Nagar thermal plant slipped further in the financial year 2010-11 as compared to last financial year performance.
Yamuna Nagar thermal plant produced 38620 lakh units in the financial year 2010-11 against a target of 43416 lakh units. This was 88.96 per cent of planned generation. Even this year the actual generation is 88 per cent of last year’s generation.
600 MW Yamuna Nagar thermal was given a annual target of producing 43416 lakh units by central Electricity Authority after discussing the matter with HPGCL authorities and taking in to account planned maintenance schedules.
The plant load factor of plant up to February was 77. 94 per cent against last year's of 82.77 per cent during the corresponding period. In the month of March, unit 1 generated 2014 lakh units with plant load factor of 90.25 per cent. The unit 2 produced 1534 lakh units with PLF of 68.74 per ce. The PLF of 78 per cent is unsatisfactory considering that CERC norm of availability is 85 per cent.
The two units of Yamuna Nagar thermal plant became operational on April 14 2008 and June 24 2008 respectively. Despite three years of operation the desired performance has not been achieved.
Last year unit 2 of plant remained under shut down for a quite long time and subsequently unit was operating at half the load due to ESP problems
