POWER UTILITY companies are not paying any attention to solve the pay anomaly in scales of Assistant Engineers, alleged RS Dahiya President of Haryana Power Engineers Association.
Dahiya alleged in a press statement that the pay scales of Assistant Engineers in power utilities are lowest amongst all the power utilities of the country. It may be mentioned that Power Utility Engineers were getting higher pay scale than the State Services Engineers in 5th Pay Commission.
But this aspect has been completely ignored, asserted Dahiya, adding that the pay scales of assistant engineers in power utilities is less than state government assistant engineers, who are better placed and getting initial salary of Rs. 14880 with grade pay of Rs. 5400.
In neighbouring Punjab, an assistant engineer gets a initial starting pay of 16680 with grade pay of 5900 whereas in UP the starting pay of AE in power utility is 17740 with grade pay of 5400.
Dahiya said that Haryana is adding 5000 MW of power in next two years yet the government is not doing anything for improving the pay scales of assistant engineers of power Utilities. Dahiya was wondering weather it is a deliberate attempt of bureaucracy to keep the pay scales of assistant engineers in power utilities as this will force them to launch an agitation.
Meanwhile, civil engineers of utilities are also perturbed over the fact that there is only one post of Superintending Engineer in utilities and that too is being kept vacant for last one year without any justification. Each utility must have a separate post of superintending engineer, deamded Dahiya.
