Two Panipat thermal units trip

PANIPAT:Haryana which was supplying power to grid after revival of600 MW unit 1 of Khedar thermal plant again resorted to over drawl of power after two 250 MW units each tripped at Panipat Thermal plant .
250 MW Unit 7 of Panipat thermal plant tripped at around 1.10 hour while250 MW unit 8 tripped around 4.30 hours . The outage of 500 MW generation set aside the gain of 600 MW Khedar unit no. 1.
According to sources unit 7 has been taken on maintenance while unit 3 is already on annual maintenance. The maintenance of unit 5 was completed earlier but now under it is again break down due to technical fault. Officially it was closed due to less demand at the moment.
The power demand crashed yesterday after rain and storm in parts of state. The state drew less than 100 lakh units than the scheduled draw from grid in grid. Meanwhile The unit 2 of Khedar unit is down for the last more than 50 days due to technical fault is likely to be revived shortly. Yamuna Nagar thermal units are running at near full load. The total power generation in day fluctuated between 1300 to 1514 MW. Khedar unit was operating between 300 to 590 during day.
The coal stock at Panipat is around 1 lakh MT which is sufficient for 4 days and comes under critical category. The supply of imported coal has not begun though order was placed in January.
