ALL INDIA Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) has represented to Union Power Ministry against re-employment of Ashutosh Chakravorty as advisor in Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) after superannuation.
Padamjit Singh, chairman AIPEF alleged that as per government's policy no proposal for employing a government servant beyond the age of superannuation of 60 years shall be considered. It is also clarified that no person can be appointed/reappointed to Central Government service after the age of superannuation of 60 years through contract.
The proposal to give re-employment on contract to Chakravorty is in contradiction to the above quoted policy, alleged Singh, adding Chakravorty retired from DVC on March 31 as director projects.
Padamjit added that Central Vigilance Commission had recently concluded an enquiry against the said official and given an adverse report on the basis of which he was served a charge sheet before he retired from DVC. Under the above stated circumstances, the move to put up an agenda note in the DVC board meeting being held tomorrow is highly questionable.
It also needs to be examined whether this proposal was cleared by the vigilance department of DVC since Central Vigilance Commission had already given adverse findings against Chakravorty.
