Chinese engineers camping at Hissar thermal for stablisation of units
The second 600 MW unit of Hissar thermal has not yet stabilised even after HPGCL declared its commercial run on March 1. The Chinese engineers are camping to solve the major problems facing the units.

CHINESE ENGINEERS are camping at Hissar (Khedar) for the stablisation of 600 MW unit 2, which again tripped today morning due to high turbine vibrations.

HPGCL achieved a record generation of 2854 MW on Wednesday with the running of all the thermal units in the state. The thermal units of the state produced 423 lakh units on Wednesday. The second run of Yamuna Nagar also started generation on Tuesday. The power cuts in the state were accordingly reduced very much on Wednesday. The power supply in state was around 832 lakh units.

Unit 2 whose commercial run was reportedly declared on March 1 has been under shut down for major portion of time due to turbine problem. The tripping of Hissar units due to boiler leakage has been very frequent and abnormal feature for new units. Engineers blame it on long lengths of boiler tubes.

However, the second unit of Hissar thermal, which started generation after a long shut down of about two months on Tuesday again tripped today on high turbine vibrations. The Chinese engineers were attending the problem of high turbine vibration and unit was commissioned on Tuesday morning.

According to sources it may take some time before the vibration problem is solved. The closure of unit reduced the total generation available to 2159 MW. The state was now over drawing power from grid. In the afternoon the overdrawing of power was around 600 MW.
