Punjab Powercom and PSTCL Chairman, members get extension

PATIALA : Punjab Government exercising powers under Article 45 of the Articles of Association extended the terms of Er.K.D.Chaudhri, Chairman cum Managing Director and other Directors of Powercom for three years.

The other who got extnesion included Er.G.S.Chabbra, Director/Generation, .S.C.Arora, Director/Finance, Er.Arun Verma, Director/Distribution, Er.Surinder Pall, Director/Commercial & H.C.Seth, Director/HR of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited and Er.Ravinder Singh, Director/Technical of Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited for three years with effect from 4th June 2011 or upto the age of 62 years which ever is earlier.

The move is seen as reward to the management of both the corporations in view of their excellent performance in the very first year of their inception.

Er.K.D.Chaudhri, CMD, PSPCL informed PSPCL has been able to bring down Transmission & Distribution losses from 20% to 18%. The deloading of 30,000 over-loaded distribution transformers in the urban and rural areas and changing 5000 Kms of worn out and undersize conductor have helped a lot in containing power cuts due to break downs. PSPCL has not imposed any cut so far in the summer this year.

He further informed that Power supply of 8 to 9 hours was supplied to farm sector during paddy 2010 without imposing more than 1 hour average power cuts on urban customers and imposing average 1 weekly off on industrial consumers. He said that 8 hours power supply to farm sector in paddy 2011 has also been ensured.

CMD informed that Generation Plants of PSPCL have also done exceedingly well in 2010-11. PSPCL achieved Total Power Generation of 22519 Million Units against Target of 21824 Million Units set by CEA (Central Electricity Authority).

Er.Chaudhri added that PSPCL management is paying attention towards all round development including services, generation, Energy Conservation, improving quality of power supply etc and will achieve more mile stones during years to come.
