A team of Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) visited Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Plant here on Thursday and collected samples of water from around it.
The action comes after HT, dated May 26, 2011, reported drainage from the plant is polluting environment, threatening the international wetlands of Ropar (Rupnagar).
The PPCB team led by environment engineer RK Ratra took samples of water from five points, including the accumulated acid mine drainage at the site where coal mill reject and reject stones are dumped.
Ratra said the samples would be sent for analysis and report would be available within a week
