Mishap at Khedar Thermal plant - one dead, three critical
In a mishap at Khedar thermal plant in Haryana seven people suffered burn injuries while working inside the boiler of unit no. 1 .One worker died while three are critical as they suffered more than 70 percent burn injuries.

IN YET another mishap at Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Plant Khedar near Hissar one worker died and three others are critically injured after they received serious burn injuries.
The 600 MW unit 1 of thermal plant was closed on Wednesday afternoon after tripping of coal mills due to clinker formation in the boiler. The clinker is a solid mass of un-burnt coal and hot coal ash formed inside the corner of the boiler. The seven workers of a private company were standing on a platform at a height of 22 feet inside the boiler and breaking the hot clinkers with iron rods. All of a sudden part of a clinker fell on them and they were thrown away from the platform along with hot ash and un-burnt coal.
All the seven workers were taken to nearby hospital where one of the workers was declared brought dead. Three workers were referred to Hissar as their condition was critical with more than 70 per cent burn injuries. The other three were discharged after first aid.
The boiler maintenance work has been entrusted to Gill Construction Works Company. The police have registered a case against the company for carelessness.
There have been a number of mishaps at Khedar plant during the construction time also. A worker died earlier this month after a fall from boiler. According to sources the work of removal of clinkers is likely to be completed in the next two to three days. The second unit of plant is also under shut down since May 14 due to technical fault. The state is over drawing around 100 lakh units from the grid to meet the power shortage. The power demand in state is around 860 lakh units a day.
