Record generation and supply of power in Haryana

HPGCL thermal plants generated record 707 lakh units on July 7 and power supply of 1327 lakh units was also a record as on July 7. With the latter, the power corporation surpassed its own record of 1315.23 lakh units.

ON JULY 7 there was record generation and supply of power by the power utilities of Haryana. According to official sources the Discoms supplied 1327.77 lakh units of power to consumers breaking its own previous record of 1315.23 lakh units and thermal units of state produced 707.6 lakh units. The surplus power of 89.3 lakh units was given to the grid.

Haryana Power Generation Company Ltd. (HPGCL) engineers informed that by putting their best efforts - all the 12 units were running today and total power availability was 2703 MW. Unit 4 which was down due to technical faults was restored today early morning.

On July 7, Panipat thermal produced 267 lakh units, Khedar thermal 244 lakh units and Yamuna Nagar thermal 113 lakh units. Khedar units, which had been putting good performance, seem to have been stabilized to some extent.

Meanwhile, power utilities have made reciprocal arrangements for extra power through banking arrangements. The power being supplied by other utilities would be returned in lean winter period.

Around 500 to 600 MW power is being procured through banking arrangements which will be returned by Haryana in October onwards during lean periods as per commitment.

Hardip Sangwan General Secretary of HPGCL Engineers Association said engineers who are putting up a great show despite heavy odds are however somewhat saddened over the bonus policy announced for year 2010-11 and 2011-12 in respect of Panipat and Yamuna Nagar thermal plants, which is very much below their expectations.

R S Dahiya President of Haryana Power Engineers association said that power engineers have served a notice on their managements to resolve their long pending issues like removal of pay anomalies, restructuring of utilities, revival of post of Engineer-in-Chief and no extensions to Directors after their retirement.
