The construction work at Goindwal Thermal Plant is being expedited by GVK Powers Limited, Hyderabad, with the installation of the second drum boiler, on Sunday.
During a brief ceremony at the installation, officials claimed that the plant would start power generation well within the allotted timeframe. With a capacity to generate 540 megawatts, the plant is expected to start generation by December, 2012.
Shameshwar Bhupal, Rahul Agarwal and A K Mishra, spokespersons of GVK Power Limited, said that first unit of 270 megawatts would generate electricity from December 2012.
"The second Boiler Drum which was installed today would start generation by July 2013," added Bhupal. He disclosed that arrangements for water and coal have already been made. "A railway track which is under construction would fetch coal directly for Jharkhand to the power plant," said Bhupal.
