Coal shortage trips Khedar unit

HISSAR:Haryana Power Generation Company Ltd. (HPGCL) was forced to close one unit of Khedar thermal due to coal shortage.600 MW unit no. 1 at Khedar thermal plant was closed today at zero hours as the coal stock dwindled to very low levels. The coal supply is not being received from Mahanadi Coal Fields on regular basis due to railway transportation problem.
According to sources, to tide over the difficult situation HPGCL has made alternative arrangements for supply of coal from other coal mines( NCL) and officials expect that situation would become normal in next few days.
The daily coal consumption for two units is around 13300 MT daily. On last Thursday the coal stock was 71000 MT just sufficient for five days and stock was under critical categoryToday the generation in state was around 2200 MW and it was over drawing around 200 MW. The state was drawing more than 3200 Mw against schedule of 3036 MW.
On Sunday the supply to state was 1306 lakh units and thermal units produced 641 lakh units. Panipat thermal produced 247 lakh units, Khedar generated 213 lakh units and Yamuna Nagar thermal produced 101 lakh units.The coal stock at Panipat and Yamuna Nagar is sufficient for 12 and 25 days respectively.
