Engineers to oppose power generation privatisation

LUCKNOW: The All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF ) has threatened to stage an agitation against the Centre's policy to privatise the power generation sector.

The federation has called upon its members to assemble in New Delhi on October 15 and register their protest against the government policy, which it said has left power utilities financially bleeding. The federation claims that the overall loss to power utilities all over India is well over Rs 85,000 crores. Recent media reports said that banks have further refused to give loans to the power utilities.
