PSPCL seeks 55% tariff hike for 2012-13

CHANDIGARH:Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has sought an increase of 55% in tariff rates for all categories across the board in next financial year.

PSPCL has not any made specific proposal to bridge the projected gap of Rs 8983.97 crore. The PSPCL has requested the Punjab state Electricity Regulatory Commission for appropriate increase in fixed and energy charges over and above those contained in the proposal for introduction of Two Part Tariff, to meet the revenue gap

The revenue requirements for 2012-13 will be Rs. 20415.52 crore and power purchase is the major cost component besides fuel cost. The power purchase in next financial year will be to the tune of Rs.7207.38 crore and fuel cost will be Rs. 4171.13 crore.

The employee’s salary and dues shall be Rs.3834.72 crore and Interest on loans will be Rs. 2571.68 crore. The revenue receipt at existing tariff will be Rs.16310.62 crore, Net gap for his year will be Rs.3966.73 crore and previous year gap is Rs,4698.35 crore.

Similarly Punjab State Transmission Corporation Ltd. has made revenue requirement of Rs. 1102 crore for transmission works and Rs. 39 crore for SLDC works. The employee’s expenditure in this corporation is Rs. 318.89 crore. The expected revenue receipt has been assessed as Rs.481 crore and balance amount will be given by PSPCL on monthly basis.
