to be operational by March 2013

The GVK thermal power plant at Goindwal Sahib in Punjab would start operating by March 2013. Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of GVK Power and Infrastructure Limited GVK Reddy
called on Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal at their residences separately to apprise them of the status of the on-going project. Reddy,
who met the Badals on Thursday, said that the plant at Goindwal Sahib would be completed
in the stipulated time period and the plant would start generating power by March 2013.
He also assured the CM that the firm would be expanding the existing capacity of the project for which a requisite extension in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between his company and the state
government would be made soon. Reddy said that the problem faced
by them for getting the coal linkage for the proposed project from the Union Ministry of Coal. Sukhbir Singh Badal assured Reddy that
the state government would raise the matter with the Union government so that the extended project could be started in expedite manner.
