Show cause notice to PSTCL chief

Patiala: The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has issued show- cause notice the Punjab State Transmission Corporation Chairman and the State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC) Chief Engineer, asking why penalty should not be imposed and penalty recovered from their salary for contraventions of provisions of grid code and non-compliance of commissions order. CERC had issued earlier clear instructions to curb power over drawl and to comply with the directions of northern load dispatch centre.

During the course of hearing on August 18, SLDC Chief Engineer submitted that whenever any message was received from the Northern Regional Load Dispatch Centre (NRLDC) the instructions were issued to distribution company to reduce the load. He further said that the distribution company was not complying with the instructions and utility should be made a party before the CERC. NRLDC has clarified that Punjab had been over drawing even before the grid failure. The matter will be heard on September 29.DP
