Ropar thermal plant unit 6 start generation

ROPAR: The unit no. 6 of Ropar Thermal Plant has resumed generation today after 17 days when unit was closed after a fire incidence.

According to official sources the unit started generation today morning at 9.40 .Initially it was claimed that it was a minor fire and generation from the unit would be resumed with in next few days but it took 17 days to complete the work. According to sources nearly 600 cables were burnt due to fire and it was a time consuming job to replace the cables.

According to sources generation loss from unit was around 850 lakh units and PSEB suffered a generation loss of 25 crore.

It may be recalled that unit no 5 remained closed for about one month when a major fire broke out in cable gallery on June 15 last. This is the forth incidence of fire in last one year and no lessons has been learnt said an senior official . The main reason for such incidences of fire is lack of team spirit amongst officials.
