Demand of power in Punjab increases by 100 Lakh Units

PATIALA: The demand of power in Punjab has considerably increased as compared to previous year. The demand of power on Monday calculated as 1118 lac units (Lus).
Sources of PSEB said that even though there had been substantial increase of 97LUs in demand of power on 10-5-09 as compared to same day last year, the more availability of Power has enabled Board to provide uninterrupted power supply to its consumers. The power supply on 10th May has increased by 96LUs from 1022LUs last year to 1118 LUs this year.
PSEB has been making all out efforts to meet the demand. PSEB’s Own Hydel plants has been providing 96LUs, Whereas 565LUs from own Thermal Plants, 101LUs from BBMB, 346LUs from Central Sector Projects, 10LUs from Non Renewable Energy Sources.
Thermal Plants of PSEB are running to the full capacity. On the demand of Paddy Nursery growers, Punjab State Electricity Board has provided one hour morning power supply to the agricultural consumers from today. Average 6 hours power supply is also being given to cotton/vegetable growers in the State, sources said.
