Lehra Mohabbat thermal plant maintenance completed in record time

LEHRA MOHABBAT(Bathinda): The Punjab state electricity Borad(PSEB) has claimed on Friday that Guru Hargobind Thermal Plant (GHPT) Lehra Mohabbat sets a new record by completing annual maintenance of unit 2 in a shortest time of less than 14 days against approved shut down of 20 days.

An official spokesman said that GHTP was credited with completing annual maintenance and capital maintenance of its units much ahead of the planned shut down periods in the past also.

Annual maintenance of units is carried out every year on completion of 12 months of operation but it is noteworthy that the maintenance of unit 2 has been carried out after completing 17 months of operation thereby contributing to increased productivity. Unit 2 which was shutdown on 14th May 2009 has again started generation on 28th May 2009.

The Chairman of Punjab State Electricity Board, Er. H.S.Brar had himself reviewed the planning and preparation of the annual maintenance on May 8, before the shutdown was taken. Spokesman added.

During this shutdown additional works on the generator and gas distribution test on electro static precipitators have also been carried out. The saving in time has been achieved through meticulous planning, hard work and dedication of team of engineers and staff of GHTP, Lehra Mohabbat.

Er. G.S. Sra, Member / Generation of the Board has congratulated the engineers and staff of power plant over this achievement. He has stated that by cutting down the maintenance period, this unit will generate additional 310 lac units of electricity which means saving of over Rs. 15 crores on purchase of power by Board from outside sources.
