An emergency meeting of the Patiala region of PSEB Engineers’ Association was held today in which the decision of the Board to give extension to two superannuated Superindent Engineers (SEs) was strongly condemned and demanded immediately withdrawal of the office-order. The house also criticized the policy of the Board to re-employ superannuated engineers on contract basis as Advisors. The re-employed engineers are in fact performing the day to day functions of cadre post affecting the morale of the serving engineers.

These re-employed engineers are enjoying all the powers of the post without any accountability. The top management is also dealing directly with these engineers bypassing the incumbent officers thus making a mockery of the official hierarchy. Moreover over a period of time, these advisors developed a vested interest in keeping the official hierarchy ignorant about important official matters since their continuation depends on the hoax of their indispensability in the organization.

Board has given re-employment & extension to a SE, who is a mechanical engineer by qualification to Implement IT in PSEB despite having, a full fledged IT wing headed by another SE. In addition, Board is continuing with the service of 5 hired employees engaged from outside PSEB for the last 2 years despite recruitment of 40 computer engineers last year. Most of these qualified computer engineers have been adjusted against post not relating to their trade but on the other hand Board has re-employed a superannuated SE for introduction of customer call centres in PSEB. Above all, PSEB has already engaged world renowned consultantants i.e M/S PriceWatercopper by paying more than Rs. 4.5 Cr. for implementing IT in PSEB

Board which is facing severe financial crisis is re-employing the superannuated persons for different jobs without making any effort to re-train & re-deploy already existing vast serving manpower available at its disposal. The house also criticized the in-ordinate delay in filing up the existing vacancies through promotions PSEB Engineers’ Association has convened an emergency executive committee meeting tomorrow to chalk out future course of action.
